It was an emotional win for Mauritian jockey Tejash Juglall in the feature race as he saluted the sky remembering his brother Nooresh, who died after a naughty fall on the first meeting. Var’s Elusion took advantage of his lightweight to steal the show.
He was wearing the same breaches, colours and goggles that his brother Nooresh Jugall had when he had the deadly fall while riding Rule The Night the 15th of May. That was because Var’s Elusion is also own by laywer Gavin Glover. Tejash Juglall rode a great race by hitting the front and he was very vigorous at the finish to win a memorable race.
Var’s Elusion confirmed that he is a promising young horse. He was the lightweight of the race that proved to be a big factor at the end. Var’s Elusion was carrying 4.5 Kg less than Break The Silence who finished second. And Footy Goal (3rd) had 8 kg more than the winner.
It was a great win for Var’s Elusion in the first leg of the 3 year old Championship. Things will get tougher on the second round scheduled on the 10th of July to be run over 1400m.
