Training: The Ravanne Resounds Once Again In Tamarin

Must Read

After a break, ravanne classes are back in session at La Pointe Tamarin Art School. Led by percussionist Kurwin Castel, Loïc Auguste and Percy Yip Tong, the training is for one year. 3 places are still available.

An ancestral instrument, the ravanne still arouses interest among young people. It is a pleasure to share my experience of 20 years with the children of Tamarin. For the time being, the training consists in making them love the instrument. Then our team will teach them to master the techniques.

Following Menwar’s method, the training also teaches the apprentices how to read a score: “To play a gin correctly, you have to be able to read a score. That’s a lot of things the children will have to learn during their training.

Three places are still available for children from 7 to 15 years old. As a reminder, the courses take place on Saturdays from noon to 2:00 pm. Offered free of charge, the training is held at La Pointe Tamarin art school.
