Kashmiree Hansat is one of the many Mauritians who make the country proud abroad. Restaurant supervisor in a palace in Paris, our compatriot rubs shoulders with the biggest stars of showbiz. Among them, we find the singer Rihanna, with whom our compatriot has become friends.
Originally from Camp Thorel, Kashmiree completed his studies in Hospitality Management at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School. “I have always loved wide open spaces and idyllic settings. Added to this my passion for relationships, the hotel industry was an obvious career choice for me.
His third and final year of study would be decisive: “During my last year of study, I got an internship in France. It went so well that I promised myself I would come back to work in France once I had completed my studies.
To give herself the means to make her dream come true, she showed a lot of determination: “I sent my CV to several French hotels. Very few came back to me. But I didn’t get discouraged. Then one day, my application caught the attention of the Mandarin Oriental, one of the most prestigious hotels in Paris. After my application, I joined the hotel where I have been working for 8 years.
The palace’s reputation attracts many celebrities: “The palace is located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Around it there are only the big boutiques. This is why celebrities always prefer the Mandarin Oriental during their stays in Paris. In addition, the establishment regularly hosts Fashion Week and Netflix movie promotions. As a result, celebrities regularly come to the hotel. I’ve run into Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and Paris Hilton, among others.”
Of all these stars, Kashmiree admits to having created a real affinity with the singer Rihanna: “She comes regularly to the Mandarin Oriental. My face is familiar to her and sometimes Rihanna and I have little exchanges. The last time she even called me by my first name. I was thrilled to know that she remembered my name. Humanly, she is also a very good person. She has very simple tastes.
