Fabien Jean Sebastien Desvaux de Marigny, 43 years old, is in custody since Friday 21st January under a provisional charge of possession of synthetic drugs for the purpose of distribution. This 40-year-old man has been apprehended at his home in the residential area of the staff of the sugar property of Belle Vue Harel, following a raid by elements of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the northern division. This exercise allowed to dismantle a clandestine laboratory of synthetic drug. 358 grams of synthetic drug was in a kitchen utensil, 5 plastic braids containing Acetone and a sheet of aluminum foil partially used were seized. The market value of this drug is Rs 1 790 000.
Fabien Desvaux de Marigny was being followed for some time following information obtained that he was involved in illicit trafficking. It was around 6:00 a.m. this Friday 21st January that the ADSU team has decided to storm his home. This information turned out to be true. One of the rooms of this house was transformed into a laboratory.
All the equipment used to prepare the synthetic drug was on a table. These policemen also found 5 braids of Acetone, a sheet of aluminum partially used and a quantity of the synthetic drug, namely 358 grams was seized.
Fabien Desvaux de Marigny, who is a French citizen, was taken to the ADSU office in Grand Bay for questioning. All of the seized exhibits will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit for analysis.
The suspect was brought before the court of Pamplemousses this Saturday morning, 22nd January. He was then taken back to the police cell.
