NCG Police Officer Arrested With Heroin

A team from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Mahebourg arrested a National Coast Guard (NCG) policeman this Friday afternoon, December 10. This police officer, Lovindre Bisonauth, 31 years old and assigned to the NCG of Bois des Amourettes, was found in possession of two pieces of heroin and a hypodermic syringe with traces of a liquid suspected to be heroin. A search of his home in Vieux Grand-Port found two plastic bottles containing a quantity of methadone and a plastic bag containing a quantity of cannabis.

It is on the basis of certain information that this team of the ADSU, led by the sergeant Gunessee, interpellated this policeman at the end of the afternoon of Friday December 10. Lovindre Bisonauth was suspected of being involved in drug offences. It is thus that this Friday while he was in sick leave that he was subjected to a body search on the road of Bois des Amourettes. This exercise allowed to seize two solid masses of heroin and a hypodermic syringe containing a liquid suspected to be of the same drug.

Drugs

Police officer Lovindre Bisonauth was subsequently taken to his home for a search, which resulted in the discovery of two plastic bottles each containing a quantity of liquid suspected to be methadone and a plastic bag containing a quantity of cannabis.

The officer, who has about ten years of service in the police force, was taken into custody. This Saturday, December 11, he will be brought before the Bail and Remand Court in Port-Louis. He is accused of possession of drugs with aggravating circumstances.
