Taramuttee Ramharakh, née Chuttoo also known as Tara, aged 73 years met a tragic end this Thursday, January 6 during an outing in Blue-Bay. This resident of Ganga Yamuna Dhan, Mrs. Lolo, Rose-Belle found herself in difficulty in the lagoon of Blue-Bay before drowning.
It was at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, that Sergeant Isabel of the Blue-Bay police went to the public beach of this coastal village following a request. With the police officers who accompanied him, he had to find a woman lying on the beach. The woman in her seventies, who was in trouble in the water, had already been pulled out by elements of the National Coast Guard and lifeguards from the Special Mobile Force.
An ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service was requested in Blue-Bay, but the doctor on board could only note the death of the woman. The body was then taken to the Victoria Hospital Candos morgue for an autopsy. This is practiced by Dr. Ananda Sunnassee, Police Medical Officer attributed the death to asphyxiation due to drowning.
The funeral of this septuagenarian took place this Friday, January 7 at 10:30 am. She was cremated at Marie Jeannie, Rose-Belle. The police of Blue-Bay have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this case of drowning.
