Mohammad Khaleed Ahmad Couronne, 24 years old, who was living life to the fullest, was brutally mowed down by a van while riding his motorcycle on the Ducray Union Royal Road late Friday afternoon, February 24. The impact was so brutal that this resident of VRS Saint Aubin who worked as a security guard at Bio Farm was thrown into a gutter. The personnel of an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service (Samu) that was dispatched to the scene could only note his death. At this death the number of deaths on our roads is fifteen against fourteen at the same time in 2022.
It was at about 3:40 in the afternoon of Friday, February 24 that this accident occurred. A Hyundai van driving on the Royal Road of Ducray Union collided head-on with an oncoming Loncin motorcycle. The impact was of rare violence, the driver of the two-wheeler, Khaleed Couronne was thrown into a gutter. The young man who landed on his back had multiple injuries to his body.

The driver of the van, who was complaining of pain, was taken to the Souillac hospital. After receiving treatment, he was referred to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle. After further treatment, he was discharged from this medical institution. He was subsequently taken into custody at the Mahébourg police station. He was subjected to an alcohol test which was negative.
Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police who autopsied the body of the victim attributed his death to multiple injuries.
In the village of St. Aubin and the southern villages, this tragic news was like a shock wave to his friends. Khaleed Couronne who had a passion for motorcycles had many friends with whom he made regular trips. Moreover, for his funeral a motorcycle procession escorted his body to the cemetery.
The funeral of Khaleed Couronne took place in the evening of Friday 24 February. After the prayer at the mosque of Batimarais at 23 hours. He was then buried in the cemetery of Camp-Devil.
