A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Grand-Baie was carried out at the home of a 21 year old bricklayer in Petite Pointe aux Piments in the early hours of Monday morning, August 22. This exercise allowed the police to find 3 plastic containers at the home of Jean Danino Anelka Douce, in which there were a hundred doses of heroin, or 12.63 grams. The market value of this drug is Rs 189,450.
Danino Douce had been in the ADSU’s sights for some time. The young man was suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. After hours of surveillance, his house was raided at 5am on Monday 22 August. A thorough search was carried out by Sergeant Menowa’s men, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajendranath Jhurry. Three plastic containers were found, containing 34, 33 and 33 doses of heroin respectively. An electronic scale with traces of heroin on it, a pair of scissors and a roll of partially used foil were also seized.
Half an hour after the search, Danino Douce was taken to the ADSU office in Trou aux Biches for questioning. The young man was subsequently brought before the Pamplemousses court on a provisional charge of drug trafficking, including heroin distribution. Danino Douce is being held in a police cell.
