An operation mounted by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Poudre d’Or in Belle Vue Maurel in the late afternoon of Wednesday, April 19, led to the arrest of an 18-year-old youth for drug trafficking. The latter was found in possession of a resealable bag in which there were eight cellophane parcels containing dry leaves suspected to be cannabis, that is 7.36 grams. Three plants of this drug measuring between sixty-two to one meter two, an electronic scale, a partially used cellophane sheet and a sum of Rs 21 600 were also seized.
It is around 16 hours 30 this Wednesday April 19 that this team of police officers of Adsu led by the sergeant Samynaden arrived at the residence of this teenager. It had information that the teenager was involved in drug trafficking in this village. A search of his home was successful.
The suspect was placed in a cell at the Piton detention center. This Thursday morning, April 20, he was brought before the court of Pamplemousses. He was then taken back into custody.
