11-Year-Old Girl Mistreated By Her Mother And Stepfather

Must Read

Sense of revolt in State Land, Sir Robert Scott Street, Cité La Cure. Neighbors have mobilized to denounce a man and his partner, whose daughter has become their victim for some time. On Thursday, February 23, the stepfather picked up the 11-year-old girl from her school. As soon as he arrived at the house, he started to beat the girl and even kneed her in the face, which caused a swelling of the girl’s lips. The reason behind the beating that day was that she was on her way to school. The girl then ran away to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor took her to the Abercrombie Police Station on St. Croix to file a child abuse complaint.

It was in the early evening of Thursday, February 23, that a 59-year-old woman living in the area took the girl to the Abercrombie police station. This after she took her to the hospital Dr. A.G. Jeetoo, Port-Louis, with a form 58, to be treated. The girl, who fears the behavior of her mother and stepfather, did not want to return to their home. She was taken into charge by one of her uncles, who lives in a suburb of the capital.

In her complaint, the girl, who is in grade 6 at the Marcel Cabon government school, Cité La Cure, gave a history of her family. She said she lives with her mother, stepfather and 3-year-old half-sister. She told how she is mistreated and humiliated by her parents every day before going to school because she asks for food or money to buy cakes and notebooks.

The little schoolgirl complained that her parents argue all the time when she comes home from school. They then take their anger out on her by hitting her on the back, face, and head. Around 10 am on Thursday, February 23, her stepfather came to the school, and brought her home after talking with the schoolteacher.

Arrived at the house, this man, all furious, began to inflict blows on the whole body. Faced with the aggressiveness of her stepfather, she ran out of the house to take refuge at a neighbor’s house. In front of her appearance, she did not need to explain herself. The woman in her fifties took her to the hospital before taking her to the Abercrombie police station.
