Water is the element Zohra Ellapen gets her kicks from. Kite surfing instructor, the young woman chose a job with her feet in the water…
She wanted to dive. But what’s the use of having your eyes in the water when you can go and titillate the clouds? “I wanted to make diving my profession. But, I quickly put aside the idea, because I was often sick. Then I discovered kite surfing in 2013. When I asked about taking lessons, the boss offered me to learn and work at his center at the same time. I accepted.”
In 2018, she became a member of the International Kiteboarding organization – IKO which allows her to share her passion with others.
After obtaining her level 2 diploma, she decided 5 years ago to open Kaïzo kitesurf school: “The school is based in Anse-la-Raie and we welcome those who wish to live the experience of taking off with a kite surf in their hands.”
And if you are really good, a few sessions will be enough: “Some people will learn faster than others. In any case, I do everything to facilitate their learning. And for good reason, the first sessions take place in a boat where it is much easier to master the track. Only once the person has gained confidence will he or she go into the water under my permanent supervision from a boat.”
While waiting to one day become a trainer, Zohra plans to open a new school in the East soon.
