Young Painter Arrested With Rs 5 Million Of Synthetic Drugs

Jean Tommy L’Emplatre, a 27 year old painter and resident of Riche-Terre was arrested this Monday, November 1st on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. A raid carried out at his home by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Plaine-Verte made it possible to seize more than one kilo of synthetic drug and the sum of Rs 4800 suspected to come from the sale of this drug. The market value of the seized drug is estimated at Rs 5 million.

It is after hours of surveillance and that following information obtained that this painter is engaged in drug trafficking that the men of the inspector Jeean of Adsu of Plaine-Verte landed at the residence of this suspect at the street Saint Michel, Riche-Terre. This information turned out to be true. These policemen discovered during this search eleven transparent plastics, weighing 1.098 grams containing synthetic drug.  A sum of Rs 4,800 was also seized from the suspect’s house. Adsu suspects that this money comes from the sale of this drug.

Jean Tommy L’Emplatre was brought before the Bal and Remand Court the same day. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking and possession of synthetic drugs for distribution. After his appearance the suspect was placed in a police cell at the Stanley Police Station. This Wednesday, November 3, he will be presented before the court of Pamplemousses.
