The MMM held a solo press conference on Saturday. Speaking on the unity of the opposition, he said that “at this stage, it has not yet been finalised”. “And as I said before, nothing is agreed until everything is agreed,” he said.
Bérenger added that in Parliament too, nothing is finalised. That is why Xavier-Luc Duval remains leader of the opposition at this stage. He added that the L’Espoir platform is waiting for things to be clarified at the level of the PTr political bureau. Paul Bérenger also added that L’Espoir has reactivated discussions regarding the municipal elections. The platform is working on a project in view of the upcoming elections.
“Cancel the recent increase in fuel prices”
This is the call made by Paul Bérenger this morning. He recalled that any increase in fuel prices has repercussions on all products. This is why he is calling for the cancellation of this recent increase as well as the withdrawal of 4 taxes on fuel prices, including those for the Road Development Authority, the Covid Solidarity Fund and the purchase of vaccines.
Bérenger also deplored, in a press conference this Saturday, the fact that the police refused to allow a symbolic demonstration in favour of Ukraine. He also deplored the fact that the beneficiaries of social benefits have to wait until the 7th of next month, i.e. Monday, to get their money from the bank. “We said we had to be careful. But they did not foresee that there was a holiday. We denounce this state of affairs,” said Paul Bérenger.
