The ticket formula, that is 36-17-8, has not been finalized. It was discussed but not approved. This is what Xavier-Luc Duval said this on Saturday. He spoke to the press after a meeting with his executive members. He said that the presence of the PMSD in a new government is decisive. “We have made some proposals with Dr Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger. Discussions are on-going. We will see how it ends. Everyone is hoping that a solution is found. However, it does not depend solely on the PMSD but on everyone,” he said.
Xavier-Luc Duval insisted, when questioned, that the PMSD must be present in a new government. “It may be a question of stability,” he insisted while underlining that no one should forget that elected members of the PMSD have resigned in 2016 and suffered a lot of repression.
He insisted that there is no negotiation with the MSM. On his meeting with Patrick Belcourt, he said that he is the Leader of the Opposition and, as such, can meet everyone who asks to meet him. He also said that for an alliance to win the next general election, each party must to its best and for that to happen, each electorate must feel secured in the alliance.
He also said that if the Labour Party and the MMM do no longer support him as Leader of the Opposition, he will do what is expected from him in such a situation.
Finally, he insisted for good sense to prevail. He said proposal has been made and he is expecting a response. He also said that Labour and PMSD are “natural allies” and recalled that in various occasions, the PMSD has helped the Labour party to have a majority in Parliament.
