Frenchman Victor Lafay won the 2nd stage of the Tour de France, the longest of this 110th edition, yesterday between Vitoria-Gasteiz and San Sebastian in the Basque Country. After 209 km of racing, the Frenchman from Cofidis beat Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) and Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirate). Britain’s Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) retains the yellow jersey.

After a fine first stage yesterday, Victor Lafay won today in San Sebastian. After a fine attack eight hundred meters from the finish, the Cofidis rider was not caught by the peloton. He finished ahead of Wout Van Aert and Tadej Pogacar.
After the second stage on Saturday, Adam Yates retained his yellow jersey ahead of teammate Tadej Pogacar, who came back to within six seconds thanks to bonifications. Simon Yates completes the podium. On the French side, today’s winner Victor Lafay is fourth, twelve seconds behind the overall leader.
