Lindsay Serge Leroux, a 64-year-old resident of Baie du Tombeau, met a tragic end yesterday morning, March 28, in a road accident in Vingt-Pieds, Grand Baie. He lost control of his motorcycle, which was heading towards an oncoming car. He was unable to avoid the accident. According to a police source, he was carrying a scuba tank. This caused him to lose his balance. He was killed instantly. His body was taken to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, for an autopsy.
This terrible accident occurred at around 9 o’clock in the morning. The impact was so violent that Lindsay Leroux was thrown onto the asphalt. The Grand Baie police were alerted to the accident and dispatched a team to the scene. Meanwhile, an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) was already on the scene. Unfortunately, the doctor had to pronounce the victim dead.
The 56-year-old driver of the car, who lives in Pereybère, was given a breathalyzer test, which proved negative.
Lindsay Leroux was a bon vivant. He had just celebrated his 64th birthday on Tuesday, March 5. He had a passion for cooking and baking. He never missed an opportunity to bake a cake for a party or a loved one’s birthday. In fact, he made one for his grandchild on her birthday on Tuesday. Lindsay was also a handyman in his spare time. As well as baking, he loved plants and fish in aquariums.
An investigation has been launched at the Grand Baie police station to shed light on the exact circumstances of this accident.
Lindsay Leroux’s funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at the chapel of Bon Pasteur, Baie du Tombeau, pending the arrival of his relatives from abroad. He will then be cremated at the Bois Marchand cemetery in Terre-Rouge.
