The PTr-MMM-PMSD Alliance Finalised And Announced

Must Read

“We have finalised our agreement… We will go together to the next elections… This is unprecedented”, announced Navin Ramgoolam this Saturday morning. The leader of the PTr was alongside his MMM and PMSD counterparts at a press conference this morning. He announced that the agreement between the three parties had been finalised.

It is therefore the PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance that will be going into the next elections. Navin Ramgoolam announced that the first meeting of the platform has been set for 28 July at Mare d’Albert. This is a congress covering constituencies 11, 12 and 13. Another congress will be held in August, covering constituencies 15, 16 and 17.

For Navin Ramgoolam, it is crucial to get rid of the current government and allow Mauritians to regain their freedom and breathe. For him, it is unprecedented that these three parties have decided to form an alliance.

Navin Ramgoolam, Xavier-Luc Duval and Paul Bérenger announced the officialisation of the PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance. “We are coming together because there is a great danger threatening the country. Pravind Jugnauth and his followers are in the process of finishing off the country”, declared Navin Ramgoolam. He added that corruption and nepotism are undermining Mauritius. He also mentioned the case of Senna Budlorun, who verbally abused a police officer a few days ago. The incident took place at the headquarters of the National Land Transport Authority. “A person close to Minister Bobby Hurreeram threatened a policeman violently. Nothing will happen to him. Quite the contrary! It’s the policeman who’s going to be transferred. They think they can do anything. The government is in our hands, they say”, added Navin Ramgoolam.

The PTr leader also spoke about what is happening in Parliament. “It’s unprecedented. At the time, it was very rare for an MP to be named. Now you are named even before you are expelled”, he said.

Navin Ramgoolam also congratulated Noémie Alphonse and Jane Constance. He also denounced once again the fact that the Police Commissioner had violated the Constitution by opting for lawyers of his choice and thus short-changing the DPP.

Duval: “Mauritians must feel that their future lies in this alliance”.

Xavier-Luc Duval joined Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger to announce the PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance this morning. For him, Mauritians are now expecting the leaders of this new platform to take to the field.”We are going to reach out to the people of Mauritius. We are going to advocate a unifying discourse.Because we want people in all four corners of the island to feel that their future lies in this alliance”, he declared.Xavier-Luc Duval said he was more concerned about the exodus of Mauritians. “I wonder if I was right to insist that my children return to Mauritius”, he said, pointing out that many other parents are in the same situation as him.

The Leader of the Opposition raised the case of Raj Nuckchady, who resigned as Chairman of the Medical Negligence Standing Committee last week. “I spoke to him.He gave me the reason for his resignation. Raj Nuckchady told me that it was because Minister Kailesh Jagutpal lied in Parliament,” he said.

XLD to meet Yogita Babboo this week

At a press conference on Saturday, the PMSD leader announced that he intends to meet Yogita Babboo, who was sacked by Air Mauritius because she spoke out as a trade unionist on a radio programme. He also pointed out that, like the Speaker of the National Assembly, he holds a constitutional position. For him, the Speaker owes him a minimum of respect. “Any lack of respect for the Leader of the Opposition is tantamount to a lack of respect for the Constitution”, he declared.

Bérenger :  The PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance is confirmed

“We will go to the next elections together! “These were the words of Paul Bérenger at a press conference on Saturday. He was alongside Navin Ramgoolam and Xavier-Luc Duval. He was the last to speak.”The PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance is confirmed. We will go to the next elections together”, he declared, adding that the three parties would now be stepping up the preparation of their programmes while at the same time going out into the field.

The MMM leader commented on several topical issues. He accused Pravind Jugnauth of having a major responsibility for what is happening in Parliament. “He chose Phokeer. He extracted Phokeer, session after session,” he said. He said that at the time, it was rare for an MP to be named and suspended, even for one sitting. “Now it’s week after week. There have never been so many expulsions and suspensions “, he lamented. Paul Bérenger also commented on the Finance Bill. He also denounced the fact that amendments were being made to laws in the Finance Bill without any announcement in the budget.

Paul Bérenger spoke of the danger of many candidates running in the next elections. He said that Mauritius’ electoral system was a “curse”. He took the example of his constituency in the last legislative elections. He recalled that he was elected, as was Deven Nagalingum. However, Jenny Adebiro was not elected because, according to him, an independent candidate received 2,000 votes.” He called on all sections of the population to take responsibility. He added that the PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance was open to dialogue with extra-parliamentary groups. He declared that there are parties who are serious and who are not interested in having nominations, but as for those who want tickets, the alliance is open to dialogue. However, he added that there was a danger if many of them lined up for the elections.
