Things are going great for the head of government. This morning, at the kick-off of the campaign for the second booster dose against Covid-19, Pravind Jugnauth commented the setbacks of the opposition. “They are swimming in quicksand. Why do I say quicksand? It’s because they are sinking. They are going to sink,” Pravind Jugnauth quipped. The head of government was at the Sir Harilal Vaghjee Hall where the campaign started with the vaccination of parliamentarians and the Speaker. Pravind Jugnauth was asked about Paul Berenger’s demand for the resignation of the entire government. He added: “From the day after the elections, he started to criticize me. He will continue to do so until the next elections…”
Ramgoolam, Bérenger, Duval and Boolell will meet on Tuesday
Initially scheduled for this Monday, the meeting of the main leaders of the opposition parties has been postponed to tomorrow. Xavier-Luc Duval, Paul Bérenger and Navin Ramgoolam were supposed to meet last week. However, due to a health concern of the leader of the Labour Party, the meeting was postponed to this Monday. But we learn that the meeting of the day has been postponed again. It is finally tomorrow that the meeting will be held. The objective is to find an agreement for collaboration between all political parties of the official opposition. It will also be a question of agreeing on a new date for the holding of a demonstration. As a reminder, the August 12 demonstration was cancelled because police permission had not yet been obtained by the end of last week.
