It was 5am on Saturday 4 September. The impact was of rare violence when a truck demolished a panel on the wall of the ENT hospital compound in Vacoas. Immediately, a team of police officers arrived on the scene. The 40-year-old driver, who lives in the cité L’Oiseau, Curepipe, is in shock. He explained to the police that he had fallen asleep at the wheel. He was subjected to an alcohol test which proved negative.
As for the patients in the hospital, they were startled awake by the frightening noise. It was not long before they were informed of the accident. The Vacoas police have launched an investigation to shed light on the circumstances of this accident.
