In his New Year’s message to Air Mauritius employees, Chairman Marday Venketasamy said that 2024 will be a year of great success…for Air Mauritius but also for the tourism sector. He added that the company is positioning itself for “sustained success in the years ahead”.
Marday Venketasamy explained that Air Mauritius has known continued growth and strengthening. He added that the transition of the company’s operations from London Heathrow Airport to London Gatwick Airport has been a success. It “has not only optimized our efficiency but also improved our connectivity, with the introduction of a daily flight to the British capital,” he says.
Marday Venketasamy also rejoiced over the reintroduction of two weekly flights to Geneva and the addition of a third weekly frequency to Delhi, Perth and Cape Town. All this, according to him, testifies Air Mauritius’ gradual recovery.
According to the chairman of Air Mauritius, 2023 was a year of “remarkable resurgence, with airlines returning to pre-pandemic levels of connectivity”. He noted that “Air Mauritius’ post-Covid operations are now ahead of pre-2019 levels”.
Marday Venketasamy predicts that calendar year 2024 will be a good post and pre Covid year and that the country will reach the 1,300,000 tourists expected with a significantly higher value-added base.
