Mauritius strengthens its array of bunkering services with GRM-EOT and TFG Marine in port area.
The Mauritius bunkering hub project is taking shape. In 2013, the Mauritian Government, through the then Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Xavier-Luc Duval, announced that Port-Louis will gradually position itself as a bunkering hub destined to refuel shipping vessels in the south of the Indian Ocean. This project is coming to fruition. In 2015, the Australian private bank, Macquarie invested $100 million to finance the construction of a local facility through a local partner named Scott Shipping. Since then, the idea of Mauritius as a bunkering hub has attracted considerable interest from both investors and shipping companies.
Two days ago, TFG Marine, one of the world’s largest physical bunkering procurement and trading platform announced publicly that it will be providing GRM-EOT with marine fuel. GRM-EOT is a local bunkering company that has just been awarded a license to operate by the Mauritius Ports Authority.
TFG Marine stated that it looks forward to develop its services for biofuels for maritime customers in the south of the Indian Ocean.
