Tennis Legend Martina Navratilova Diagnosed With Dual Cancer

Must Read

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer.

The holder of 18 Grand Slam singles suffered from breast cancer in 2010 and will go under treatment in New York in January end.

Navratilova, 66, who is from Prague, Czech Republic, said both cancers had been known at an early stage.

“The double whammy is serious but fixable, and I’m hoping for a favorable outcome,” she said. “It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all I have got.”

Navratilova observed an enlarged lymph node in her neck during November’s WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

In the following biopsy, stage 1 throat cancer was discovered.

During the tests, a lump was also discovered in her breast, which was afterward found as unrelated cancer.

“Both of these cancers are in their early stages with great outcomes,” Navratilova’s representative Mary Greenham said.

Navratilova was scheduled to broadcast from the Tennis Channel studio in Melbourne to cover the Australian Open this month, but she will instead make sporadic remote appearances.

The nine-time Wimbledon singles champion mentioned she felt “helpless” after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, but was determined to tell this news to all to help other women suffering from similar health problems.
