Statistics Mauritius has just published its monthly report on the number of tourist arrivals in the island. Thus, we note that for the month of September 2022, 81,087 travelers have stepped on Mauritian soil. The total number of arrivals is therefore 638,332 from January to September 2022. All indications are that the one million tourist mark will be reached by the end of 2022.
If we go into detail, we see that the European market still dominates tourist arrivals, with nearly 433,841 people. The French are already in the lead with over 145,366 tourists. At the regional level, we note the performance of South Africa with 26,029 tourists.
The African and Asian markets are not left behind for the first half of 2022. The number of Indian visitors is 26,029.
The tourism sector revenues for the first 7 months of 2022 have already exceeded Rs 30 billion 272 million. This is according to the latest report published by Statistics Mauritius. These figures represent a significant increase compared to the year 2021 as a whole.
