High speed’ space storm to hit earth any time from now. A geomagnetic storm is approaching the Earth at a speed of 1.6 million kilometres and is expected to hit the planet on Sunday or Monday. People living near northerly or southerly latitudes are likely to observe beautiful auroras during the night-time.
A solar storm is a temporary disturbance of the Earth’s magnetosphere caused by a solar wind that interacts with the Earth’s magnetic field. It is believed that the storms produced by the sun during its adolescence was a key feature in providing the seeds for life on the planet. The eruptions also may have furnished the energy needed to turn simple molecules into the complex molecules such as DNA which was necessary for life.
