The Prime Minister was in Coromandel on Thursday for a housing project. He was obviously questioned about the Sherry Singh case. Pravind Jugnauth said that the investigation must be allowed to continue. He added that the former CEO of Mauritius Telecom has mentioned irrefutable evidence in the media. “In the end, I have not seen any compelling evidence. From what I have read in the press, he has asserted his right to silence. Where is the hard evidence?” he said.
Pravind Jugnauth added that he is aware that there are machinations. “They are plotting to drag me through the mud. But let time do its work. The truths will surface very soon,” he said.
Regarding the reconstitution of the board of Mauritius Telecom, he said that nobody is to blame. The government, he said, wanted to give the organization a fresh start. “There is no motion of blame against the old board. They all agreed to resign so that a new team could take over. We also have a new CEO,” he said.
Regarding Girish Guddoy’s letter, Pravind Jugnauth said he was struck by the fact that he used the same terms as the former CEO.
