One of the rare cases of an individual being arrested for cannabis cultivation took place this Tuesday afternoon, January 9, on the side of the Pouce mountain. A team of police officers from Saint Pierre’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu), led by Chief Inspector Moosun, arrested Kishna Nasapen, 62, of route Bois Chéri, Saint Pierre. He was walking through a bush carrying a bag containing seventy-one plants measuring between eighty and one meter thirty. All weighing three kilos. The suspect was brought before the Moka court on Wednesday morning, January 10. There were three other cases of cannabis cultivation where plants were uprooted during the day on Tuesday January 9.
It was based on certain information that the Adsu team arrived at this location. The suspect was surprised by the arrival of these police officers as he was carrying a bag containing seventy-one cannabis plants. On this plantation, the Adsu officers also discovered a transparent plastic bag bearing the words “granulés escargots et limaces” (snail and slug pellets).
In addition, an Adsu team from Savanne led by Inspector Pierre found forty-one cannabis plants on an abandoned plot in the Choisy area. They measured between sixty centimetres and one metre twelve. The raid was prompted by information concerning the existence of this crop.
On the other hand, Sergeant Balooa of the Sainte Pierre Adsu and his men located three hundred and thirty-eight cannabis plants on an uncultivated plot of land in the Côte d’Or region. This after the police helicopter made a reconnaissance visit. The plants measured between sixty and one meter eighty.
