The International Women’s Day was celebrated yesterday morning at the Cultural and Leisure Center of Mont Plaisir in the presence of the Minister of Gender Equality, Kalpana Konjoo-Shah, the Commissioner of Women, Christiane Agathe and the Commissioner of Agriculture, Louis Ange Perrine, among others.
Commissioner Christiane Agathe emphasized in her speech the importance of women in our society and that they continue to make significant contributions in all areas. Together, the Minister and the Commissioner encouraged women to fight for their rights, while inspiring men to become allies and work together to build a more equal society.
The celebrations continued with a presentation of certificates to the trainees of the basic car and motorcycle maintenance course. Afterwards, the women presented took part in a roundtable discussion on the following themes: innovation, technological change and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The second theme was the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces.
