Rashid Ahmine Is The New DPP

Rashid Ahmine has been appointed Director of Public Prosecutions this Wednesday by the Judicial and Legal Service Commission. He will assume his duties as from this Thursday. Rashid Ahmine is the successor of Satyajit Boolell, after being the Deputy DPP up to now.

He is known for having worked in several complex cases, including the Boskalis trial or the NPF trial against the Mauritius Commercial Bank.

After having obtained his LLB at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom (UK), Rashid Ahmine has been called to the Bar of Mauritius in December 1994. He then joined the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) in February 1995 as State Counsel. During his tenure, he has held the positions of Senior State Counsel, Principal State Counsel and Assistant Parliamentary Counsel, respectively. In 2004, he has been awarded the British Chevening Scholarship to study for an LLM. He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance Law from King’s College London.
