Gavin Glover, Senior Counsel, who represents the leader of the Labour Party, raised four constitutional points to denounce infringements of his client’s constitutional rights. This happened yesterday morning before the Financial Crimes Division of the Intermediate Court. Mr Glover insisted that sections 8 and 5 of the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA) infringe his client’s constitutional rights. His motion will be argued on 31 July before magistrates Abdool Rahim Tahjudeen and Razia Janoo Jaunboccus.
Navin Ramgoolam refrained from commenting following his court appearance. The Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act has 23 counts against him.
