The Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, chaired, today, a meeting on projects of national priorities, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
The meeting, which is conducted on a trimestral basis, aims at advancing and removing bottlenecks as far as projects of national priorities are concerned.
Several Ministers were present, including the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun; the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy; the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Mr Georges Pierre Lesjongard; and the Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training and Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Mr Soodesh Callichurn. Various senior officials from governmental and private bodies also participated in the meeting.
In a statement following the meeting, the Chairman of Business Mauritius, Mr Jean-Pierre Dalais, pointed out that discussions mainly focused on projects in the renewable energy and financial services sectors. He spoke of the need to retain more local talents in the country as well as attract more specialists to Mauritius. The promotion of a conducive business environment was also highlighted by the Chairman.
