This increase was announced in the budget speech by the Minister of Finance, Renganaden Padayachy. The objective is to finance the purchase of anti-Covid-19 vaccines. The decision will come into force as from midnight. Hence, the price of gasoline and diesel will increase by Rs 2 per liter from July 1. Thus, the new price of gasoline will be Rs 50.40 per liter and that of diesel will be Rs 37 per liter.
