The Parliamentary leader of the Labour Party faced the press this Wednesday. Arvin Boolell commented on the press release of the Commissioner of police, in which Anil Kumar Dip criticised the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions not to appeal against the release on bail of Bruneau Laurette. For Arvin Boolell, the comments of the Commissioner of police tantamount to an “act of persecution”. For him, there is an element of threat and provocation in the comments of Anil Kumar Dip.
For Arvin Boolell, by making these comments, the Commissioner of police is only complying with the Prime Minister’s Office wish. For him, there is a calculated move to persecute the DPP. It all started, according to him, with the move to come up with a Public Prosecution Commission, which would have made the DPP operate under this institution.
