The three-day career counselling workshop organised by Polytechnics Mauritius, kickstarted yesterday morning at its Ebène Campus. The workshop is being held simultaneously at the Bagatelle and Plaisance shopping malls.
The workshop intends to pair up students with industry partners who will explain the profile of jobs in their respective industry and skills required to be successful at work and grow up the career ladder.
In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Polytechnics Mauritius, Mr Yamal Matabudul, underlined that Polytechnics Mauritius is organising the Career Counselling Workshop ahead of the proclamation of the Cambridge School Certificate results to orient students on careers in the higher technical sphere.
The objective, he highlighted, is to guide them in making informed decisions when choosing their field of study and making a career choice.
The CEO recalled that Polytechnics Mauritius in line with its mission, has elaborated a wide range of courses in diverse sectors, up to now some 35 courses with new additions such as the Diploma in Robotics and Automation Engineering. With these new courses, we are offering our students opportunities to work in less traditional jobs and making careers in the higher technical sphere in every sector of the economy, he added.
Furthermore, Mr Yamal Matabudul stressed that Polytechnics Mauritius, has as of today more than 3,800 students, six Campuses, more than 30 accredited certificates, diplomas, and Top Up degrees with over 600 graduates registering a 98% rate of employment, adding that the aim is to connect education to employability.
Moreover, the CEO informed that Polytechnics Mauritius is coming up with new courses in fields such as spa and aviation as well as certificate courses aligned with Government’s vision to create educational pathways for students with different capacities.
