Pravind Jugnauth was participating in the “passing out parade” of the 875 new recruits of the police force at the Gymkhana in Vacoas this Wednesday. In his speech, the Prime Minister pointed out that it is a sad fact that from time-to-time police officers are being arrested for their involvement in various crimes and drug-related cases. This tarnishes the reputation of the police force and compromises the good work done by most of our police officers. “No black sheep will be tolerated, either in the police force or in the public service in general,” he insisted. He added that “those who are tempted by easy money will have to pay the price.” He also said that the new recruits must now maintain the highest standards of professional excellence, integrity, and honesty in their work.
