Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was welcomed by the Ethiopian Minister of Education, Berhanu Nega. The two men reviewed the guard of honor before a tête-à-tête meeting.
While there, the Head of Government and the delegation he heads will take part in the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union. This year’s theme is “Educating an Africa fit for the 21st century”. This summit of the African Union (AU) is being held in a difficult context, at a time when the organization is seeking to carry the continent’s voice within the G20, which it joined in September.
Today, the head of the Mauritian government will take part in the opening ceremony of this major meeting of the African Union. The Prime Minister is expected to speak on a number of topics, including climate change. Bilateral meetings with Heads of State and Government of AU member countries are also on the agenda.
