The Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnath, yesterday took part in the 29th edition of the Public Service Kermesse at the Gymkhana in Vacoas. The event, which has been organized for several years by the Public Welfare Officers Council, was attended by the Minister of Public Service, Anjiv Ramdhany, parliamentarians including Prakash Ramchurrun, and hundreds of civil servants and their family members (parents and young people), as well as residents of Vacoas and surrounding areas.
Addressing the audience, the Head of Government focused on the health of civil servants, who he said should engage in physical activity on a regular basis. According to him, they are doing a tremendous job to help Mauritians. “Leaders can have a vision, implement a program or initiate important measures, but none of this can be achieved without the ‘helping hand’ of civil servants”, said the Prime Minister, who thanked civil servants for their collaboration with the government.
On another note, Pravind Jugnauth did not mince his words towards his detractors, saying: “In Mauritius, there are some who say that we are going to rig the next elections using Artificial Intelligence (AI)”, asserted Pravind Jugnauth, this Sunday December 17.
In the same breath, the Head of Government expressed his congratulations and thanks to the Electoral Commission and the Electoral Supervisory Commission, praising these two “independent institutions” for their dedication over the years. At the same time, the head of government criticized the “losers of the legislative elections”.
For his part, Civil Service Minister Anjiv Ramdhany made it clear that it was the Prime Minister who was the founder and innovator of the changes to the civil service.
He also announced the design of a mobile application for civil servants to facilitate the communication of grievances, among other things.
The event also included the distribution of gifts for children and a road safety awareness campaign.
