In hIs address to the population on the occasion of National Day, the Prime Minister announced that as from start of April, every senior citizen will receive an old-age pension of Rs 13 500. He added that it was a promise he made and is keeping.
He also announced that, based on seniority and years of service, 1 785 police officers will get a promotion. That will allow, he underlined, the recruitment of police constables.
Pravind Jugnauth said that he has no doubt that the country is going in.the right direction as people can see development in each island of the Republic.
He recalled that it is his first full mandate as Prime Minister and he is fully satisfied with his accomplishments.
He insisted that his top priorities are stability and peace. He insisted that he is convinced that a silent majority agree with him.
He also talked about developments in Agalega, thanks to India, and in Rodrigues.
He deplored the fact the United Kingdom has still not respected the decision of the International Court of Justice.
He also made an appeal to young Mauritians to choose modern paths in education.
