In the context of the EURO 2024 football tournament being held from 14 June to 14 July 2024, the E-Sport Euro 2024 Fire, a PlayStation 5 FIFA competition organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation in collaboration with the National Youth Council, was officially launched, on 14 June 2024, at the Helvetia Youth Club.
The launch event was attended by the Digital Advisor at the Institut Français de Maurice, Mr Emmanuel Viaux; the Chairman of the Mauritius Recreation Council, Mr Stephane Rox; the Managing Secretary of the Mauritius Recreation Council, Mr Anourag Ramloll; and the Managing Secretary of the National Youth Council, Mr Pravind Ajodha.
The competition will encompass preliminaries across 12 identified regions, including Agalega and Rodrigues, leading up to a grand final. The national tournament, open to both genders and targeting participants aged 14 to 29 years, will operate within a single category. The preliminary stage will follow a one-match elimination format, with the top two finalists from each region qualifying for the National E-Sports Euro 2024 Fire.
Regional competition winners will be awarded trophies, and the 24 regional finalists will compete in the grand final at the Helvetia Youth Hub on 14 July 2024. The final’s top prizes include Rs 25,000 for the winner and Rs 15,000 for the first runner-up.
