Paul Bérenger has condemned the increase in the prices of bus tickets and metro tickets as announced yesterday by the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Alan Ganoo. The leader of the MMM was facing the press this Saturday morning, May 7, 2022, at the Henessy Park Hotel, Ebène.
Paul Bérenger has pointed out that if the unnecessary fuel taxes were removed, there would not have been an increase in the public transport fares and this would have stopped the population from suffering that much.
“This is another blow with a baton. They (members of the government) make it look like it was inevitable, but we have been arguing firmly for the removal of diesel taxes lately. One of the main reasons for the rise in the prices of public transport is the increase in the price of diesel. They did not listen to us but in the contrary, they took advantage of the increase in the price of diesel to also increase the price of the metro,” has voiced out Paul Bérenger.
The leader of the MMM also came over the Motion of No Confidence to be lodged by the leader of the Opposition against the government. On this matter, he stated that the leaders of the Platform of L’Espoir will be meeting on this Monday afternoon, 09 May to coordinate the actions in the Parliament following the “No Confidence” Motion against the government that will be tabled as mentioned by the Leader of the Opposition, Xavier-Luc Duval on Tuesday 10 May during the Parliamentary session.
