The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, and the Lord Mayor of the City Council of Port Louis, Mr Mamode Issop Nujuraully, remitted,on Monday, cash prizes to some 12 winners of the Vintage Photography Competition 2023 which was held at regional level, during an official ceremony held at the Council Room of the City Council of Port Louis.
It is recalled that in the context of the 55th Anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius and the 31st Anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius, the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government Disaster and Risk Management, organised a Vintage Photography Competition to promote photography as an art.
The competition was an opportunity to showcase to the talent of the new generation and the vintage aspect of Mauritius. It was held at regional level, more precisely at the level of District Councils and Municipal Councils and was opened to all Mauritians aged 18 years and above.
These competitions at regional level will enable the shortlisting of the best vintage photography to be exhibited at national level, in the month of August 2023. Accordingly, prizes will be awarded for the best Vintage Photographs.
