A total of 113 top achievers of the 15th edition of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, received their certificates and prizes, in presence of the Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, during an official ceremony organised by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES), today, at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.
The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards aims at valorising the achievement of Mauritian students who have excelled in the 2022 Cambridge O, A and AS level. Students who are presented with the Cambridge Top in the World and the Cambridge Top in Mauritius awards are those who have scored the highest mark in the world and in Mauritius at O, A and AS levels in any subject. As for the High achievement Award, it is conferred to students who have obtained outstanding results in subjects with low candidature.
VPM Dookun-Luchoomun said that this remarkable performance of the students also indicates that there is a clean and sound competition in the education system in Mauritius.
The director of the MES, Mrs Thanacoody Soborun remarked that the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards have been a regular feature in the calendar of activities since 2007. The awards, she said, is an occasion to celebrate the hard work of the students and the wider school community. She indicated that awards are being given to some 40 secondary schools in various subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature in English Literature, Hinduism, Oriental languages and Travel and tourism. The achievement also demonstrates the longstanding collaboration of the MES with the Cambridge Assessment International Education, she added.
