Legendary actress Mumtaz has finally said yes to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s offer to do ‘Heeramandi’. The actress was in talks and had earlier declined the role but she has finally said yes to the project. Bhansali had first offered Mumtaz a role last year but the yesteryear’s superstar declined the offer insisting there was very little for her to do.
But this time, Bhasali has given the star a bigger role than before. According sources Mumtaz is now satisfied with her part. The actress has verbally agreed to do the film and only formalities are left. Mumtaz is a screen legend in Indian cinema. Her comeback to the screen, and that too in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production is history in itself.
On Monday, actress Manisha Koirala took to the internet and posted a photo with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mumtaz which was a clear giveaway that Mumtaz was going to be involved in the film.
The tagline of ‘Heeramandi’ is ‘Where courtesans were queens’. The cast of the web series has not been revealed yet. Bhansali spoke to Variety and said, “It is a huge saga about the courtesans of Lahore, it is something I was living with for 14 years. It’s very vast and ambitious.”
