Honourable Teenah Jutton, MP, 2nd Elected Member of Constituency No.11, Vieux Grand Port and Rose Belle, is in Delhi, India to participate in Raisina Dialogues 2022. The young MP was invited to participate in India’s flagship foreign policy conference as part of the Raisina Young Fellows programme. Representing Mauritius, Teenah Jutton participated in several conferences and attended various panel discussions which addressed the most challenging issues that the global community has been facing.
She wrote on Facebook, “It is such a humbling experience to be a Fellow of the ASIAN FORUM ON GLOBAL GOVERNANCE & THE RAISINA DIALOGUE happening in New Delhi, India since Friday where intensive sessions and insightful discussions are being held with Experts, Professionals, Diplomats and State Representatives from across the world and one thing which is UNDENIABLE is that the impacts of the Ukraine-Russia coupled with the effects of the pandemic is causing an Economic Warfare in 2022: with disruption in food security, rising inflation, ALL nations across from East or West,North or South of the Globe are ALL feeling the apocalyptic effects such as rising price of gasoline and basic commodities and as per the experts, this may just be start…Whilst efforts are geared towards mitigating the effects and having international collaboration and dialogue, understanding of the people is key: as these are really UNPRECEDENTED TIMES demanding understanding by all. #Understanding#Cooperation#UNITY#PATIENCE#HUMANITY”.
The young MP also posed a pertinent two-fold question regarding India’s role in the Russia-Ukraine war and rising inflation and also about how India intended to help the Indo-Pacific region, specifically Mauritius to the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar.
The member of parliament also held conversation with Hon. Kwati Candith Mashego-Dlamini Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa on women empowerment, reducing the gender gap and how South Africa reached to 50/50 gender Quota.
Raisina Dialogues 2022
The Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, held annually since 2016. It is organized by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). The Dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, who are joined by thought leaders from the private sector, media and academia.
This year, the 7th edition of the Raisina Dialogue was inaugurated on 25th of April 2022. The dialogue is being held for 3 days from 25th April to 27th April 2022. The event was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi along with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
The theme for the 2022 Edition is “Terra Nova: Impassioned, Impatient, and Imperilled”. Over the course of three days, the Dialogue, will have panel discussions and conversations across multiple formats on six thematic pillars –
