She is accused of having incited her son to beg on the public beach of Poste de Flacq in the evening of Sunday October 24.
The child, who is in grade 2, explained in a deposition made in the early hours of this Monday, October 25 in the presence of his paternal grandfather how his mother inflicted him with rattles in public because he refused to beg on the public beach of Poste de Flacq where they went.
It was his aunt, he said, who came between his mother and him. Back home, the child said he was beaten again by his mother. This time, it was his father who spared him from his mother’s blows. The boy, who was injured in the nose, also has scratches on his cheeks. He was taken to the Dr. Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq for treatment and was allowed to return home under the care of his paternal grandfather after the Child Development Unit was notified of the case.
His mother was paroled in the early morning hours after giving her statement. However, she had to appear in court in Flacq on Monday, October 25. She was later released on bail.
