The BAFTA TV Awards 2021 were finally announced on June 6 at a hybrid event that was filed at the London Television Centre. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only nominees of the main categories were present in person while others tuned in virtually to the event. The event was hosted by Richard Ayoade and saw Michael Coel win the Best Actress award for playing the lead role in BBC and HBO drama show, I May Destroy You. Paul Mescal won the Best Actor award for his performance in hit show, Normal People. The BAFTA awards are given to honour the best British and international contributions to film by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
