Realignment of Swami Sivananda Avenue between Palmerstone Road and Closel Road near Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC) at Phoenix
The public is hereby informed that construction works pertaining to the Metro Express Project will be undertaken near Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC) along Swami Sivananda Avenue between its junction with Palmerstone Road up to Closel Road as from Wednesday 14 July 2021.
Accordingly, this section of Swami Sivananda Avenue will be realigned to restore the two lanes of traffic. The traffic scheme will include the relocation of the existing bus stop near IGCIC onto the new realigned road. Pedestrians will not be allowed onto Swami Sivananda Avenue along and across the works area. They will be redirected through Indira Gandhi Road or Nalletamby Avenue to reach the junction of Palmerstone Road/Swami Sivananda Avenue and vice versa.
The necessary traffic signs will be set up to inform and guide road users.
Drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution when approaching the works area and to drive within the prevailing speed limit.
