Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) Has Made Some Important Drug Seizures Since The Beginning Of The Year

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) seized 1.55 kilograms of crystal meth (methamphetamine) worth approximately Rs 23 million on Friday 31 December 2021 at Courier Service. The courier consignment, declared as books, was in transit in Mauritius and was selected for scanning and examination. Upon verification, the two books were found to contain two rectangular paper parcels secured with transparent plastic containing whitish crystals matter suspected to be methamphetamine. A field test for crystal methamphetamine on the substance was positive. The exhibits were secured and referred to ADSU for further enquiry.

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) seized 1.79 grams of cannabis worth around Rs 1,074, on Sunday, 09 January 2022 at SSR International Airport. During a search operation by MRA CANS officers, 1.79 grams of cannabis was seized in the locker of a ramp agent at SSR International Airport. The cannabis and ramp agent were handed over to ADSU for further enquiry

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) seized 432 grams of hashish worth around Rs 1,296,000, on Sunday, 19 December 2021 at a Courier Service. During the examination of one parcel, 2 books were found to conceal, each, a dark brown solid matter suspected to be hashish. K9 Sniffer dog “Oasis” was deployed on the exhibits and the latter reacted positively. A field test was carried out on the substance and it revealed to be cannabis. The case has been referred to ADSU for further enquiry.
