Mauritius has received an additional 500,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China on Sunday evening at Plaisance airport. This represents a new shipment that is in line with the government’s objective to ensure continuity in the vaccination campaign in order to achieve herd immunity among the population.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr. Alan Ganoo, the Minister of Health and Welfare, Dr. Kailesh Jagutpal and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Mauritius, Mr. Gong Yufeng were present.
As a reminder, Mauritius had procured 500 thousand doses of Sinopharm in May 2021. The country had also received, in April, 100 thousand doses of the same vaccine as a donation from the Chinese authorities.
