A 33-year-old man was charged with the murder of his friend on Saturday at the Bail and Remand Court. He is accused of stabbing Vishal Neeladoo in Cité la Chaux last Thursday. The victim died the next day after being in a coma at the Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle following the attack.
According to the testimonies, Ashley Manikion, a pellet merchant operating in the locality, was a long-time friend of the victim.
An argument, whose cause is still unknown to investigators, broke out between the two men last Thursday. Some say it was a joke that was misunderstood. However, a fight ensued. As a result, Vishal Neeladoo had to be rushed to the hospital in Rose-Belle and died a day later.
The suspect, Ashley Manikion, was known as a non-aggressive person, an opinion shared even by the victim’s parents. It is not understood how he could commit the irreparable.
The police investigation is ongoing.
