Two legends of Liverpool, Mr Robbie Fowler and Mr Jason McAteer, visited, yesterday, the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) International Academy in Mauritius, at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex. The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint, and the former professional footballer and Head Coach of the LFC International Academy in Mauritius, Mr Neil Murphy, were present on the occasion.
In a statement after the visit, Minister Toussaint recalled that the setting up of the Liverpool International Academy in Mauritius was a major game changer in the history of Mauritian sports. The Liverpool International Academy is offering training, for a period of three years, to the local football players based on a programme and curriculum elaborated and currently being used by the LFC, he pointed out.
The Head Coach, Mr Murphy, joined Minister Toussaint to underline that it is a privilege to welcome two great legends from Liverpool, who have come to visit our Mauritian children and play football matches with them. According to them, this a great honour because these youngsters were not even born when these two legends were the pride of Liverpool Club, and now these youngsters are getting to benefit from their experience and advice.
